Colorado Springs is one of the most politically and socially conservative spots in the United States, but if that is not an issue for you, then it is a very nice place to live.  It sits in a slight valley at the foot of beautiful Pikes Peak and offers a variety of housing prices, from very reasonable to more affluent areas on the outskirts of town.  The downtown area offers large rambling Victorians; new subdivisions are to the east and south of town.  Generally, prices are fairly reasonable, more so than in Denver or some of the mountain resorts.
